Innovation In Delivery
HTSS are constantly looking at innovative ways to improve customer stock and storage requirements. The company currently operates two very popular schemes to meet the needs of both small and large manufacturing facilities.
HTSS Consignment Stock Scheme - suitable for larger manufacturers
The consignment scheme is a comprehensive and fully integrated steel supply solution which operates online. It is an ideal solution for customers using over 20 tonnes of steel per month.
How does it work?
- The scheme operates via an online programme which manages an agreed level of all stock items on the customers’ premises, maintaining minimum and maximum stock levels.
- Although the steel is held on your premise you only get invoiced for what you use. Hence, stock is ‘free of charge’ until it’s committed to manufacture.
- The scheme then automatically replenishes which you have used.
What are the benefits?
- Since you only get invoiced when the steel is used, you enjoy ‘cash flow’ benefits and ‘zero inventories’ at month’s end.
- When customers sign up for the HTSS consignment stock scheme, an agreed price is fixed (However should prices fall, HTSS will negotiate with its customers). This negates the need for quotations and order placements.
- Should the consignment user be absent from the office, the scheme will run automatically, ensuring that the stock is replenished just as if you were there.
- Customers enjoy zero rejects and no shortages.
HTSS Kanban - suitable for all manufacturing facilities
Kanban represents a simple signalling system that has proved valuable to many of HTSS’s customers. When one batch of material is used, HTSS receives a ‘trigger’ to automatically replenish stock. This allows HTSS to keep ‘buffer’ stock for a same/next day service.
HTSS has teamed up with the University of Liverpool to devise an improved Kanban solution that delivers some additional benefits which include:
- Quick and accurate information
- Fast responses to changes
- Avoids over-production
- Total quality control
- Above all, it’s a simple and understandable process
